2011 now and what a trip we had! Still thinking about it every day. Now it is 2010...and we are off, to Europe. Hong Kong, le Tour de France, Normandie, Paris for Bastille Day, Eurostar to London, motorhome for 33 nights, more London, then home!

A lovely day out in London. We paid for the hop on/hop off tour which included a cruise from Westminster to Greenwich. The weather was lovely and we had 4 commentaries, all by funny Cockney-type blokes. So we saw a great deal of the major sites in comfort. We only had the one day as we pick up the motorhome today, Monday, but we will be back in a month for 4 more days here. Saw Oliver at Drury Lane Theatre on Saturday, excellent experience.
Labels: London tour and giant ship in bottle at Trafalgar Square.
A very smooth trip by train. Only 20 minutes through the tunnel under the English Channel. Our hotel is quite close to St Pancras station.

6. 15 July 2010
Have to explain why I have not posted as much as I would have like thus far. We are so busy from morning to late at night! The light hangs around until almost 11pm. And yesterday, being Bastille Day, was a very busy evening with late night fireworks...and so many people trying to get home. We have a metro station, 3 actually, outside our windows in the street below, and the police had to close, ie barricade, the station to just let in a few people at a time. It took about 2 hours to clear the crowds! The hoards of people down below were incredible, but all well-behaved and patient. By 2am it was all clear. I am glad I was not out in it last night. We watched the fireworks earlier from our rooms, a lovely vantage point...I have posted some photos of the event. We managed to get the car back to Paris in one piece, a delightful vehicle, a Peugot 5008, I think, it never missed a beat. We covered 2000 kms in it.
Our apartments near the Eiffel Tower are excellent, with small kitchenettes and fine appointments. They are better by far than any other places we have stayed....highly recommend the Citadines setup.
Our first day in Paris we got caught in a torrential downpour at the Eiffel Tower and again on the way home from it. No problems though as it is high summer and it was all part of the experience. Too much walking for Libby but she soldiered on and eventually we got home to a bath and change of clothes.
The next day we spent on the tour bus system that sticks to a set course. We saw many of the sights and went to the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa with hundreds of others. Summer crowds are stifling but we enjoyed ourselves.
Off to London soon.
Back soon with a report from there.
Regards,
Warwick.
