Broome 23 June 2005
We arrived in Broome in good time yesterday. We had to take 'overflow' accommodation at the Pistol Club Van Park, but it is quite acceptable, and cheaper! We then had time to go to Cable Beach to watch a glorious sunset. A lot of people there too so it is quite an event here. At the same time the fullmoon came up on the opposite side of Broome. Tonight is an event called the Stairway to the Moon, I think, where the full moon rises over the very low tide on the mudflats in Roebuck Bay. We are looking forward to that.
Tomorrow we are booked in for the Pearl Lugger experience which includes a cruise in one of the boats. This should tie in nicely with the historical aspects of Broome.
The trip from Port Hedland took 2 days with a stop halfway at Eighty Mile beach van park. This was very nice with the walking on the beach at lowtide a highlight. The tide goes out a long way and we walked about 3-400 metres to get to the water. Lots of shells and crabs around so we all had fun. The sunset was quite nice too.
We will spend 3 nights here in Broome then head further along, to Derby and so on.
Thinking of you all in the snow and cold, we will be back in it soon enough so we enjoy the heat for you all!
Hope the reports were a smooth and worry-free event for the BHS staff. Have a great holiday and see you all safe and well at the end of it.
Regards, Warwick and the girls. (about 6 and 1/2 thousand kilometres thus far, dearest diesel so far was 151.9 cents per litre!!!!!)

Marble Bar 20 June 2005
Yes, we are here. For a few reasons we were able to make time to take this little detour. We only got here at 3pm but it is worth it. The jasper reef took us the best part of an hour, very interesting, does look like marble.
Now back in town, where the temperature is 22degrees, not quite the hottest town in Australia today!!
We will be in Port Hedland for another night, then, hopefully, off to Broome tomorrow, but we will see.
Best go, as time is limited, we will grab some souvenirs here and look at the Ironclad Hotel.
Bye for now

19 June 2005 Port Hedland 8pm
We finally found an internet terminal here but at $8 /hour I am typing very fast!
Have had an interesting time since Coral Bay. The country we have travelled through has been very interesting as we had no real idea of what we would see. That is why we travel of course!
Exmouth was interesting with a bit to see. Then a big trip all the way to Karratha, missing Onslow unfortunately, next trip I hope! We did 576 kilometres that day, we were bushed and the kids were great. So we gave ourselves 2 nights there, needed the rest! Not a lot to see really, though Dampier has some interesting bits.
We then travelled the very short distance to Roebourne (not nice), Cossack (amazing old ghost town) and finally to Port Sampson which we found to be a hidden gem, a real delight. Only had time for 1 night but it was enjoyed greatly. A lovely meal, cajun-style snapper, a swim on Honeymoon beach (the twins anyway..to cold for us!), and a small caravan park totally paved with the hotel right next door. Really enjoyed it and no wonder people there were booked for 3 months at time, one bloke coming for 17yrs!
Today we made Pt Hedland via Whim Creek pub, interesting. Off to 80 mile beach and then Broome tomorrow if our replacement CD player for the truck has been flown here from Perth!
Lots of photos, interesting places and fun times together.
Best go, Kelsie needs to contact her friends!
Take care all, be in touch in Broome probably! Libby is hanging on the cricket as we speak, of course, and being 2 hours later here it is on earlier, lovely!!
Regards, Warwick and the girls.
